Square Mile reinstates A rating on the Threadneedle UK fund

Square Mile Investment Consulting & Research (Square Mile) has reinstated the A rating on the Threadneedle UK fund, which was suspended in September of last year due to the previous incumbent's departure from the firm. The strategy is now run by Chris Kinder, who opened his investment career in 2001 and has been lead manager on the Threadneedle UK Extended Alpha and, co-manager, of the UK Absolute Alpha funds since he joined Threadneedle in 2010.

The list, which is free for financial advisers to access, forms part of Square Mile's Academy of Funds, a dedicated section of its website showcasing Square Mile's qualitative fund research and analysis. Funds within the Square Mile Academy of Funds are A, AA, or AAA-Rated reflecting the level of conviction Square Mile's analysts have in a fund's ability to deliver on expectations.

Andrew Johnston, Investment Research Analyst said "Chris Kinder is a manager with conviction and diligently researched investment views. He also makes great use of Threadneedle's sizeable UK Equity research team for ideas, knowledge and opinions. The bulk of the portfolio is typically invested in well run blue chip UK companies that have strong franchises, barriers that deter potential competitors and high cash flows. Though more cyclical holdings will be used to add value if they can be purchased on cheap valuations.

Given this fund's well-defined investment philosophy and process, impressive supporting research team and Chris Kinder's own investment experience and passion to succeed, we consider this an excellent strategy to gain exposure to the larger end of the UK equity market."
