A-Rating for Threadneedle Dynamic Real Return Fund and AA-Rating for Jupiter Asian Income

Square Mile Investment Consulting & Research confirms the addition of two new funds to its recommended list: the Threadneedle Dynamic Real Return fund which has been awarded an A-rating and the Jupiter Asian Income Fund which has been awarded an AA-rating

Square Mile's recommended funds, which sit within the Academy of Funds, carry a rating - A, AA, AAA, R or P+ - as reflection of the level of conviction Square Mile's team of analysts has in a fund's ability to deliver on expectations. Square Mile's independent, qualitative research is designed to offer advisers a solid foundation for client investment propositions and recommendations.

Commenting on the Threadneedle Dynamic Real Return fund, Alex Farlow, Square Mile's Head of Risk Based Solutions Research, said:

"In our view Columbia Threadneedle has an impressive track record of successful asset allocation: we see this as a real strength of the group. A key attribute of their success is the firm-wide focus on collaboration and idea sharing. We see this fund as a natural extension to what the multi asset team has been doing successfully for a number of years, but which has an unconstrained approach, allowing full flexibility to invest in the best asset class and thematic ideas of the group.

The Threadneedle Dynamic Real Return Fund lead manager, Toby Nangle, benefits from the support of the wider team, including senior investors from within the business, most of which have been working together and applying the same process for a number of years. We think this is a fund that should appeal to investors that require growth which is ahead of inflation but who are also seeking to minimise capital volatility to a level which is meaningfully below that of equities."

Amaya Assan, Senior Investment Research Analyst at Square Mile said of the Jupiter Asian Income fund:

"We consider the Jupiter Asian Income fund to be a strong offering for investors looking to access the region's long-term income and growth potential. The fund was launched in March 2016 and is managed by Jason Pidcock, who joined the investment group in late 2015 from Newton Investment Management.

Jupiter's investment culture is built on allowing talented fund managers the freedom to pursue their own individual investment approach. Mr Pidcock fits nicely with the firm's ethos. He comes with over 20 years of investment experience and has a very clear and well-defined investment philosophy. The fund benefits from a very capable and seasoned investor, a well thought through investment approach and a supportive investment group. As such, we have awarded the fund an AA Rating."
