Job Opportunity: Accounts Assistant and Bookkeeper

We have an exciting new opportunity for an Accounts Assistant and Bookkeeper to join a small and dynamic business based in the City of London - and we're looking for an equally dynamic person to join our journey. We expect this to be a full-time role, but we do operate within a flexible working environment and we are happy to create a working programme that supports both you and us.

The role

The role will support the full end to end financial and management accounting life cycle including bookkeeping, data reporting and journal management.

Role overview

  • Updating and enhancing reporting and accounting processes.

  • Producing monthly reports and supporting commentary (Management Accounts, sales, projects, debtors/cash).

  • Preparing monthly accruals ensuring all costs are accounted for month end closing.

  • Reconciliation of the monthly balance sheet.

  • Departmental/service/margin cost analysis as required.

  • Assisting with the preparation of budgets/forecasts/reforecasts/cashflow.

  • Assisting with the year-end audits and tax returns.

  • Supporting with invoicing, maintaining accounts receivable/payable ledgers and ensuring payments are collected in a timely manner.

  • Supporting banking activities, payments, reconciliations etc.

  • Calculation of distributable reserves and dividends.

  • Assessing ongoing suitability of the existing financial accounting system against future business requirements.

We're a small team of people, so you'll also need to be able to build close relationships quickly with your colleagues.

What about you?

You will:

  • Have previous experience in a similar role, ideally from a small to medium sized business.

  • Have experience of a cloud based accounting system.

  • Have strong experience using MS Office software (Word/Excel/Outlook).

  • Have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Possess strong general ledger, monthly reporting and reconciliation skills.

  • Have the ability to analyse and interpret data and present results - exceptional analytical skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Have budget and forecasting management skills, including cashflow.

  • Have a qualification in bookkeeping. Entry level accounting qualification desirable.
