Farquhar set to swim the channel

Square Mile’s Business Development Director, Jamie Farquhar recently attempted to swim the English Channel in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital as part of CASCAID’s ongoing appeal. This 22-mile challenge saw him take on the world’s busiest seaway, braving waters of around 15 degrees. Sadly, after 18 hours in the water and within one kilometre of the French coast, Jamie succumbed to salt induced pulmonary edema brought on by overconsumption of saltwater and was forced to abandon his challenge. He subsequently spent several days in hospital recuperating and made a full recovery.
