We are excited to announce the latest Talking Factsheets to be added to the Square Mile Academy of Funds. Talking Factsheets is a service for users of the Square Mile Academy of Funds, combining Square Mile's independent, qualitative fund research with accessible video content. Retirement Advantage to work with Square Mile on new retirement solution

Square Mile Investment Consulting & Research has been chosen by retirement income provider Retirement Advantage to provide fund selection, asset allocation and ongoing investment performance monitoring. This service will form part of a new retirement solution, The Retirement Account, to be launched by Retirement Advantage later in 2015.

The initial selection of nine funds has been compiled with reference to Square Mile's qualitative assessment and encompasses three distinct approaches: outcome, Investment Association sector-defined and total return income biased approaches.

7IM AAP Funds Awarded R-Rating

Square Mile Investment Consulting & Research has added the 7IM AAP range of growth orientated funds to its Academy of Funds, awarding them a Recommended (R) rating. This suite of funds includes the AAP Adventurous, AAP Moderately Adventurous, AAP Balanced, AAP Moderately Cautious and Cautious funds.

The Academy of Funds is a dedicated section within Square Mile's website, where advisers can access analysis on all recommended funds.  Each fund carries a rating - A, AA, AAA, R or P+ - as a mark of quality and a reflection of the level of conviction Square Mile's team of analysts has in a fund's ability to deliver on expectations.

Allianz Gilt Yield - Rating suspension

Following the announcement by Allianz Global Investors that they plan to take the management of the Allianz Gilt Yield fund in house as of 30th November 2015, Square Mile have today suspended their A rating on the fund. Management of the fund was previously sub-contracted to PIMCO, a subsidiary of Allianz Global Investors, with the manager named as Mike Amey. Mr Amey is an experienced investor, having successfully steered his funds though a number of market cycles.

M&G Episode Income Attains A-Rating

Outlook for Equities

Following the Swiss National Bank's surprise decision to remove the franc currency floor in January, most of the major markets settled into an eerie quiet through much of the first half of the year, despite the ongoing calamity in Greece.

Warning signs showed in June as the first cracks appeared in the Chinese stockmarket bubble. Yet, developed market stockmarkets only began to stir once the People's Bank of China devalued the renminbi on 11 August. In the final two weeks of August, equity markets erupted in some extremely violent moves that were disturbingly reminiscent of 2008. Daily fluctuations of up to 5 per cent became the norm. The Vix index leapt from 15 to 53 within three days, leaving many options prices too volatile to quote. This proved unsettling even for hardened market veterans.
