Lead manager switch in the Threadneedle UK Equity Income fund

Columbia Threadneedle has announced that Richard Colwell has been named sole lead manager on the Threadneedle UK Equity Income fund with effect from October 1 2015. Mr Colwell had previously been co-manager with head of UK equities, Leigh Harrison, from September 2010.

Allianz Gilt Yield to be managed in house

Allianz Global Investors have announced the appointment of Mike Riddell as UK Fixed Income Portfolio Manager. This will have an impact on one of the funds which we rate. The Allianz Gilt Yield fund, rated A by Square Mile, is currently managed by Mike Amey at PIMCO, a subsidiary of Allianz Global Investors.

Short Term Manager Change For The Kames High Yield Bond and Kames Strategic Bond Funds

Kames Capital has today announced that Phil Milburn, co-manager on their High Yield Bond and Strategic Bond funds, is taking a short sabbatical. This will commence immediately and Kames expect Mr Milburn to return to full duties early in the New Year.

The Kames High Yield Bond fund will continue to be run by the highly experienced and well-regarded Claire McGuckin, with support from the wider fixed income team at Kames. In addition, Stephen Baines has been named as Support Manager for the fund. Mr Baines has already been assisting Mr Milburn and Miss McGuckin on the fund in a more informal capacity and we welcome this formalisation of his role.

Square Mile Quiz Night Raises £14,500 For Charity

Square Mile Investment Consulting and Research hosted its annual charity quiz night last night raising £14,474.50 for four charities. Staged at The Gable on Moorgate, a cross spectrum of asset management groups and financial services businesses fronted 30 tables, each paying £300. This raised £10,668.61 which will go directly to Breast Cancer Now.

Further funds were raised by a raffle and auction of prizes donated by those attending, the proceeds of which will be shared among charities nominated by the top three teams. Jupiter were the winners with Great Ormond Street being their chosen charity. Investec and Henderson came in at second and third place nominating Tusk and Macmillan respectively. Each of these charities will receive £1,268.63.

Square Mile announces two new fund ratings

Square Mile Investment Consulting & Research today announces two new fund ratings, with an upgrade and the other a new entrant to the Academy of Funds.

• The Neptune UK Mid Cap has entered the Academy of Funds with an A rating

• The Jupiter European Growth fund's AA rating has been upgraded to the highest AAA rating.

Housed within a dedicated section on the Square Mile website that is free for all advisers to access, recommended funds are rated as A, AA, AAA, R or P+ as a mark of quality and a reflection of the level of conviction Square Mile has in a fund's ability to deliver on expectations. The Academy of Funds was also recently extended in August 2015 to include ratings for passive as well as actively managed funds. Square Mile's independent, qualitative research is designed to offer advisers a solid foundation for client investment propositions and recommendations.
