None of our entities or related businesses are affiliated with Square Mile International Financial despite any name similarity.

Square Mile Investment Consulting & Research confirms that it is not in any way involved in the matter under investigation, namely that a company called Square Mile International Financial, based in Prague, advised consumers to transfer savings from UK pension schemes to overseas investments despite only being authorised to deal with insurance mediation.

Baillie Gifford Credit Team Changes

Following the announcement today that Donald Phillips has left Baillie Gifford, we have taken the action to suspend our A rating on the Baillie Gifford High Yield Bond fund. Whilst Mr Phillips' departure is clearly a loss, Baillie Gifford have a strong team and we will seek to meet the new co-manager, Lucy Isles, before firming our opinion on the changes. Robert Baltzer, an experienced investor and Head of the High Yield Bond team at Baillie Gifford, remains co-manager on the fund.

Sale of Old Mutual Wealth’s single strategy business to TA Associates

In December 2017, the parent firm of Old Mutual Global Investors (OMGI), Old Mutual Wealth, announced that it had agreed to sell its Single Strategy asset management business (which includes OMGI's directly-invested fund range) to the Single Strategy Management Team and funds managed by TA Associates, the global growth private equity firm. The deal, which is subject to regulatory and other approvals, is expected to complete in 2018, after Old Mutual Wealth's listing on the London and Johannesburg Stock Exchanges.

Fund Rating Removal for the M&G Asian fund

Following our recent review of the Asian sector, we have taken the difficult decision to remove the M&G Asian fund's A rating. Whilst the strategy has a number of attractive features, such as its sensible approach to investing in this region, we have some concerns about the fund's ability to consistently meet its performance objectives.
