The manager of the Federated Hermes SDG Engagement Equity fund seeks to invest in small- and mid-cap companies, which not only generate suitable investment returns, but also generates impact through effective engagement aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We can observe how investee companies have improved their sustainability disclosures, evolved their operational practices
to be more considerate of social impacts, and reduced their environmental impact, amongst others. Therefore, although the 3D framework often penalises funds for their exposure to controversial activities and limited exclusionary policies, we appreciate that this is not a priority for this manager and that the team has excelled in its core engagement focus.
